Eligibility criteria

For students to get a Canadian student visa, they need to be between the ages of 18 to 35 years.
It is mandatory for students to have a study permit. However, these permits are not needed if the duration of their courses is lesser than 6 months.

Apart from these documents, students also need to have a good hold on the English language. This is because they would have to submit their English proficiency test scores. For students wishing to pursue further studies in Canada, they need to have their IELTS scores which are mandatory.

Information on IELTS scores

There are a total of 4 sections of the IELTS test. These are Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.
For students pursuing undergraduate courses, they need to have a minimum score of 5.5 in each of the four sections. They need to have an aggregate score of 6.
The stakes are a bit higher for students looking to go for post-graduate courses. They need to have a minimum score of 6 in each of the 4 sections, with an aggregate of 6.5.

Financial requirements

A student’s financial capability is a very important visa requirement. This is to ensure that the student has the finances to take care of all the expenses incurred at a foreign university. Following are the financial requirements for a student visa:
Proof of funds i.e. Bank statements.
If parents are supporting their child’s education, they should submit their savings account’s bank statements.
They are supposed to submit bank statements for the past 6 months.

Once you are done with applying for a student’s visa, your next step would be to keep track of your visa application process. Keeping yourself updated about your student visa would help you plan all your further actions.

If you have applied for your visa online, you can just log on to your account on the official website and check the status of your student visa.
If you have applied for your visa offline, then you will get an email once your visa application starts getting processed.
