From university admission, visa application to education loan application, documentation will be an important task in your study abroad journey. To ensure a smooth journey, you have to keep all your important documents ready. If you are planning to study overseas, this article is for you. Here is a list of essential documents that you must know if you are planning to study abroad.

1. Academic transcripts

An academic transcript is nothing but a record of your academic journey so far. So, your marksheets or certificates with your name, academic grades, seat number, name of the university, name of the course and name of the degree or diploma will be your academic transcripts. So, keep all your academic records in one place so that you can produce them as and when required. Also, if you are applying to more than one university to study abroad, check which academic transcripts each of the universities will require.

2. Statement of Purpose (SOP)

If you are planning to study abroad, SOP will be an important part of the application process to secure a university seat. It is an essay that captures your academic journey so far, your career goals, details of project work, internships if any and more. Please remember that your application will be selected from the sea of applications. So, it is essential that you write an engaging SOP that conveys your intention and inspiration behind pursuing a particular course from your respective university.

3. Letter of Recommendation (LOR)

Depending on your university, you need to submit at least 2 LORs. LOR is provided by your faculty that lists your academic performance, skills, behaviour and more. If you have a good rapport with your professor from the previous university or college, it will help you get a great LOR. If you are planning to study abroad, ensure that the content mentioned in the LOR is accurate because information may be cross-verified.

4. Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Please don’t confuse this will SOP. SOP is written in the essay format, whereas CV has to be concise and crisp. It should highlight your academic scores, entrance exam scores, work experience if any, extracurricular activities, achievements and more. Mentioning your academic qualification in chronological order is a great way to present your CV. If you are planning to study abroad, CV will give a quick glance at your academic journey.

5. Proof of funds

Most study abroad destinations will require you to furnish proof of funds in order to process your student visa. It is necessary that you prove that you can financially support your overseas education, accommodation and other expenses that you will incur during your stay. If you take an education loan, your student loan financier will provide you with proof of funds. Your bank account statement that suggests you have enough funds to finance your overseas studies can be accepted as proof of funds too.

6. Other important documents

Once you secure a seat, you will receive a confirmation letter from your university, which will be required during your visa application process. Also, if you are planning to study abroad it would be of great help if you keep all your travel-related documents handy such as passport, visa, health insurance and other travel related documents.

So, these are some documents that you must keep ready if you are planning to study abroad. Studying abroad can be expensive and may force you to dip into your family savings. You can instead opt for an education loan in India for study abroad purposes to independently finance your education. If you have any query, please connect with us.
