Dual degree program- An overview

Now it is possible to complete your graduation with two degrees, let’s say – a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Business Administration simultaneously. Isn’t it exciting? Of course, it is. As per the double degree or dual degree program format, you can pursue two different degrees from either two universities or the same university. Students can pursue dual degrees, with the easy availability of loans for students, irrespective of the subject area.

Latest facts about dual degrees in India

Some of the facts and recent developments introduced by UGC under the double degree program in India are as follows:

  1. You can consider doing one degree by attending on-campus lectures and another degree through ODL (open and distance learning) or OL (online learning) mode.
  1. While pursuing dual degrees students need to meet the minimum attendance criteria.

All these guidelines will be followed from the academic year 2023. These programs are not mandatory but an option for education enthusiasts. Moreover, these guidelines are applicable for post-graduate and undergraduate degrees, not for PhD programs.Do not give up on your dream of pursuing two degrees simultaneously due to financial worries; you can opt for an education loan in India to complete two degrees without liquidating your assets.

Do not confuse a dual degree program with integrated courses and a dual major, as all three are different. In a dual major, your study program will consist of two related fields, which will fetch you a single degree (BS, BFA or BA), whereas, in an integrated degree, you will get one combined degree for two different course programs (Integrated MTech for studying BTech and Mtech).
