Did you know that, according to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
news, over one-third of international students studying in Canada arrive from
India? Canada is undeniably one of the most preferred choices of Indian
students who plan to study abroad. If you are planning to study
in Canada but are unaware of the procedure of getting a Canadian student visa,
this article is for you.
A student visa is called a student permit in Canada. Ensure you have the
acceptance letter from your respective university and Statement of Purpose
(SOP) ready before applying for the permit, along with all the other necessary
documents.
You can apply for a study permit online on the Citizenship and
Immigration Canada (CIC) website or through a paper application. We suggest you
apply online because the paper application is time-consuming and a complex
process. You will need a debit card/credit card to pay the application fees.
You can use your parent’s debit card or credit card with their permission.
Studying abroad involves a lot of expenses, including application fees, tuition fees, equipment costs and so on. But educationloans for abroad studies will cover all these costs making your transition to your dream destination easy.
How to get a Canadian student visa application package?
2. Eligibility
check
On the website, you will have to answer a few questions. This process is
to examine if you are eligible to get a study permit. You can also view a
complete list of documents on the website.
After the application’s successful submission, you will receive a personal checklist code that will be valid for 60 days. We suggest you either save the hard copy or soft copy of this as a backup. You will get an application guide, personal documents checklist, and further instructions along with this document.
4. Create
an account
Once all the documents are ready, go to the CIC website and create a
“MyCIC account”. Upload all the necessary documents using the personal
checklist code and complete the application. After the successful submission of
your application, you can visit the same website to check the status. Also,
study permit interviews are conditional in Canada not mandatory. The visa
officer makes this decision and is required only in few cases.
Many students opt to work while studying abroad as it helps cover the cost and gain hands-on experience at the same time. If you choose to work alongside your studies, you don’t need a work permit in Canada. You can work up to 20 hours per week during the course and more than 20 hours during the scheduled breaks like winter or summer breaks as long as you have a valid study permit and other supporting documents.
