Path to Higher Education in Digital Engineering

Motivated by the evolving technology landscape, Charan recognised the growing need for expertise in digital innovation. His ambition to pursue higher education was sparked way back during his school days. However, during his undergraduate studies, he decided to study in Germany. He specifically chose Bauhaus University, Weimar for his Master’s in Digital Engineering because of its popular Digital Engineering curriculum and strong reputation, ensuring his higher education directly aligns with his long-term career goals.

Research Mechanism

To ensure he made a well-informed study abroad decision, Charan followed a structured research process analysing universities, courses, and other information. He initiated his research using official educational portals such as DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst or German Academic Exchange Service), which is an organisation for the international exchange of students and researchers.

He utilised the DAAD portal to identify accredited institutions and suitable academic programmes across Germany. To gain deeper insights, he actively networked with his peers who were in Germany to understand the academic environment, course curriculum, and more. Additionally, his research also included regional content creators available on YouTube and other social media platforms.

Other Shortlisted Study Destinations

While Germany was his primary choice, Charan also considered alternative European destinations such as Norway, Austria, Finland, and the Netherlands during his initial planning phase. He eventually chose Germany as it aligned with his academic goals.

After understanding the highly competitive admissions landscape of German public universities, where acceptance is never guaranteed, he adopted a strategic approach by shortlisting 13 different universities. He expected to get through 4-5 universities so he could select the one that matched his course expectations perfectly. This application strategy served as an effective plan to ensure he maximised his chances of enrolling in a top-tier university.

Experience with Education Consultant and Key Application Insights

Initially, Charan managed early prerequisites independently, such as researching the required exams and initiating his APS (Akademische Prüfstelle or Academic Evaluation Centre) verification process. The APS certificate is a mandatory official document that verifies the authenticity of a student's academic credentials.

However, as the university application stage progressed, Charan needed additional information. Therefore, he approached a study abroad consultancy to ensure a seamless admission process. This helped him understand the APS certification better. For the APS certificate, you need to apply for the dMAT (Digital Master Test) exam. It is an academic aptitude test that is mandatory for certain graduate programmes in streams such as Engineering, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business & Management. He strongly advised study abroad aspirants to start gathering their academic transcripts early and plan every step well in advance to prevent any delays.

So, this is all about Charan Kumar’s academic qualifications, Bauhaus University, Weimar, the MS in Digital Engineering, his path to higher education in Digital Engineering, the research mechanism, other shortlisted study destinations, and his experience with an education consultant & key application insights.

In the next episode, we will cover his entrance exams, the difference between education in India and Germany, the importance of the German language, German culture, his experience with his education loan partner, his tips on education loan repayment, and his tips for study abroad aspirants.
