Germany has always been a great choice for those who want to pursue further studies. Students from all over the world try to get admission in Germany as this country has many great universities where they can get a great education.

There are many students that look for these universities’ admission timelines for their winter intakes. To ease their research process, here’s some information that they would find helpful:

Application deadlines
There are numerous universities in Germany. Since there are two separate timelines that German Universities follow, it is important for the applicants to know the timelines of universities they are planning of applying. Students should ideally apply to universities 2 months before the last day of the application deadline.

The winter semester at German Universities usually begins in October and ends in March. Applicants can usually start sending their applications at the start of the month of June, till the 15th of July. You should still check with the individual universities about their application deadline dates so as to not miss out on any university.

Admission requirements

This is a major part of your admission process. While applying to study in Germany, you need to make sure that you have all the documents that these universities would require. Before the application process starts, make sure to check with the universities that you are planning to apply with about their admission requirements.

The common requirements are your academic qualifications, your entrance test scores (GRE, GMAT, etc.), letter of recommendation, and a valid passport. Make sure you have these documents while applying to universities. Also, each university in Germany could have additional requirements, so it is always better to check with each one before the application process begins. This will help you to keep all your documents ready in advance.

Language requirements
Language tests are again an important criterion that all German universities have set. Since the student is going to be living in Germany and pursuing a course at a German university, it is necessary for them to be fluent in the local language. The most common tests for the German language are Deutsche Sprachprufung fur Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH), and the TestDaF.

Students also need to give entrance tests for English language proficiency. Two of these tests are IELTS, which stands for the International English Language Testing System, and TOEFL, which stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language.

Accommodation
Now that you know the winter semester starts in October, you should make all the necessary arrangements for your stay in advance. This will help prevent any last-minute hassles. While applying to universities, check whether they provide campus stays, or if they have tie-ups with hostels with special consideration for foreign students.

You can also read up online on student forums to check what arrangements the other students made. You can always post a question on these forums to clear up your doubts.
