Do not fret, we have provided all the details of what your next steps should be when it comes to the student intakes for German universitiesin September 2020:

Shortlisting universities

This is the first step towards kick starting the process. Students should start researching German universities that offer various courses that they are interested in. Make sure to check each university’s fees and requirements.

Research on what organizations and companies the university is affiliated with. This would give you a fair idea their networks which would increase your scope in the industry you want to work in. Make sure you shortlist about 10 to 15 universities that offer the course you wish to pursue.

Appear for entrance exams

Every university will be requiring the applicant’s entrance exam scores, which will be an important factor in him/her getting admission. The tests that are mostly accepted by universities are GMAT and GRE, and language exams like IELTS and TOEFL. Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache (TestDaf) and Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH) are standard tests that are accepted by German universities.

You should get done with your entrance exams between the months of April and May, since you will have to start applying to universities after May. However, it is always advisable to check with each university you plan to apply regarding its requirements and deadlines.

Send your application to universities

Candidates usually send in their applications during the months of May and June. This is the time when the documentation processes will start commencing, so make sure you have the additional documents like SOP (statement of purpose) and LOR (letter of recommendation).

Confirm your admission

Once you are done with submitting your applications, you can expect universities to get back to you once they receive your application. Once you decide with which university you want to go with, waste no time in confirming your seat.

Some universities also conduct video interviews after the application process, so check the university procedures beforehand. Once you secure your admission, you may have to pay confirmation fees. Be sure to check the payment deadline of the university.

Student visa

Once your admission is confirmed you will receive your acceptance letter from the university. Make sure that by this time you have sorted out your visa arrangements, since visa applications take time to get processed. Ideally, one should apply for their student visa 3 months prior to when they plan to departure.

The final step for you would be booking your tickets to Germany! You should try going there about a month before the student intake process starts in September. Make sure you have all the required documents before you depart.

We hope this article has been useful to you, all the best!
