A lot of students believe GMAT to be math-focused. However, this exam will also test your written and verbal skills. GMAT has 4 sections in total:

• Analytical Writing Assessment

• Integrated Reasoning

• Quantitative section

• Verbal section

Let us learn how to ace the test by focusing on each section:

Analytical Writing Assessment

This is the essay section where you will be given an argument topic to analyse. You will have 30 minutes to complete the test. Read the argument and form your opinion after carefully evaluating it. Whether you support the argument or refute it, present a strong point with examples. Use the information provided to explain your case. Use only third-person pronouns (He, she, one, etc.). Read a lot of newspapers and magazines to understand how you can explain your perspective from a logical stance. You always have the option of reading previous GMAT essays that are available online.

Integrated Reasoning

This section will test your verbal and math skill. With 12 questions given, you have 30 minutes to complete this section. There are 4 types of questions you will face:

• Multi-source reasoning

• Table Analysis

• Graphic interpretation

• Two-part analysis

To ace this section, you need to identify whether the variables have a direct or indirect correlation. For the table analysis, you will have a sort function. Use it to manipulate the date to quickly find the answer. The best way to solve the two-part analysis section is to use the trial-and-error method. Simply use the answer choices to find out which one is correct. Always be sure of the units given. You might require your answer to be in kilometres per hour, but the table/graph might include information in metres per second.

Quantitative section

The quantitative section has 31 multiple-choice questions, and you will have 62 minutes to answer them. Be fluent with backsolving (Trying each answer choice individually to identify the correct one). When you are given statements in data sufficiency, do not look at them together. It is better to evaluate each one separately. The best way to ace this section is to solve as many sample papers as you can.

Verbal section

The verbal section includes questions on sentence correlation, critical reasoning, and reading comprehension. It has 36 questions and you have to answer them in 65 minutes. Improving your vocabulary will definitely do wonders for your verbal section score. Keep reading articles from The Business Week, New York Times, The Economist, and so on. For your reading comprehension, make sure to be thorough with the questions before you choose an answer. Coming to sentence correction, be very particular about subject-verb agreement, pronoun usage, tenses, modifiers, parallelism, and so on.

These tips should definitely ensure that you do well on your GMAT test. Once you get your GMAT test score, you will start applying to various universities. To get admission to a good university in the US, you will also have to think about applying for a study loan to sort out your finances. Do not worry, we at Avanse will offer you an education loan for MBA which will take care of both your academic as well as non-academic expenses. This leaves you stress-free where your sole focus can be your education.
